Program Overview

Preschool Program

Step inside any one of our three preschool classrooms and you will encounter the enthusiastic buzz of active, engaged learning. You will witness children happily working in small and large groups, individually, or one on one with their teachers: creating, cooperating, practicing, remembering, exploring, and solving problems. They may be measuring sand, investigating bugs, painting pictures, bouncing balls or listening to a story; our children spend their time here involved in productive, dynamic learning throughout the day.

We have a dedicated, experienced and highly educated group of professionals who understand that this is the first school experience for most of our students and that is something we take very seriously as we know how it can impact a child’s desire to want to go to school for years to come!

While our students’ “work” may look like “play”, they are building a solid academic foundation, both in and out of the classroom.  Regardless of the task, our teachers are skilled at differentiating activities in order to support each child’s growth within a nurturing environment.

Children in the preschool program are introduced to language arts, mathematics and scientific thinking, social studies, art, music and physical development in ways that are appropriate for their age and ability. Daily schedules include activities that are child-directed and teacher-directed and are balanced with “busy” and quiet times.

K1 Program

LSA has responded to ongoing requests from our parents to open up a K1 program as an extension to the quality of care that their child received in our preschool program.

Our K1 program provides a wonderful opportunity for children who need another year in a smaller school setting to develop physically, socially or academically prior to entering a larger district or school placement.

Here are some basics components of our program:

  1. A small class size not to exceed 15 children staffed with three teachers.
  2. A full day program from 8:30 to 2:30 emulating the trend of public schools
  3. Extra enrichment groups imbedded in the daily schedule and in the monthly tuition. (Groups such as soccer, art, social skills and Spanish are offered on a rotation basis).
  4. A small, structured class, with individualized and differentiated instruction following Common Core, California standards-based curriculum.
  5. Additional 1:1 tutoring offered for children for whom English is not the first language.
  6. Before and after school program with homework assistance.

School Age Program (after and before school care)

Learning Springs’ after school program provides a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for families requiring quality child care for before school, after school, and summer vacation. Our mission emphasizes creating an atmosphere that balances student learning, enrichment, physical activity, and free time in a stimulating and enjoyable setting. The program offered provides parents with safe, convenient and reliable out-of-school time care for their children. The program maintains clear policies and procedures and actively encourages and welcome open communication and parent involvement.  Children will be transported to and from Learning Springs in the school’s vans by LSA staff.

Our program serves students in the Union, Cambrian and San Jose Unified School Districts.  To see if your child’s school is in our pick up range, drop us a line or give us a call.

We are now picking up students at Cambrian’s new Steindorf School!

Policy of Inclusion

At LSA all children are welcomed. We do not discriminate according to race, ethnic background or ability. Our program welcomes and includes children with disabilities and works closely with other agencies and with families to provide exemplary services to these children. We believe strongly that all children deserve the right to developmentally appropriate programming and access to interaction with peers and supportive professional staff.

Learning Springs Academy aims to provide an environment in which all children are supported to reach their full potential. We provide practitioners tools to help support parents and children with behavioral and emotional challenges. We identify the specific needs of children and meet those needs through a range of strategies. We work in partnership with parents and other agencies in meeting individual children’s needs.

We ensure that our inclusive admissions practice ensures equality of access and opportunity. We work closely with parents of children with emotional and behavioral challenges to create and maintain a positive partnership.
